There is a small, elite number of Saints in our tradition, who because of their immense contributions to Theology and Philosophy have come to be known as “Doctors of the Church”. Saint Augustine, who we remember this week, is one of those Doctors – a true giant in world history.
The impact Saint Augustine has had on Western Civilization cannot be overstated. It is enormous and his path from rebellious non-believing youth to his authoring the classic works “Confessions” and “City of God” to eventually becoming a Bishop and then Saint is quite the winding tale. His life story is an amazing journey and should inspire us all.
This morning, we also will remember the great Martyr and Apostle Saint Bartholomew as well as study the “Parable of the Lost Coin.” It is going to be an amazing episode this week!
